BROOKLINESPEECH&DEBATE

The Brookline Debate Club was established in 2017 as a competitive team that meets weekly to develop cases on topics ranging from education reform to economic issues to foreign policy. We compete against high school students at tournaments around twice a month, in Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum debate as well as numerous speech events. As of right now, we primarily compete locally and are hoping to be able to travel to tournaments on the national circuit, whose complexity of argumentation would enable us to take our skills to the next level. Stay tuned!

News & Updates

The Brookline Speech and Debate team had an incredible 2021-2022 season. We started a small but mighty speech team, qualified debaters to two National tournaments, and sent 14 students to States. More than half of the competitors at States made it to elimination rounds, and we ultimately won MA varsity LD Debate and scored quarterfinalist awards for the novice division. In 2023, we are sending 7 debaters to Nationals, and we've expanded to include a plethora of speech events to our competition schedule!
